Hanslope Hornets Chairman resigns his position

At the last Club Committee meeting held in January, Ted Butler after 10 years at the helm of the club resigned his position as Chairman.

As you will see from reading history details on this website Ted started the club up in December 1996 with a very young junior team and has been involved with the team right through to the present Under 18’s age group. He has put in many hours of his free time working for the club and making things happen at the correct time.

I guess he has lost count of the times he has had to go down to the pitches and mark out the lines either the day before or on the morning of a match. Likewise the amount of times he has had to put up nets and take them down after a game. Maybe that was because of his height more than anything that he ended up with that role.

I have been to many entertaining league meetings with Ted whilst being the Secretary and organising the Club Presentation Nights with him. He has worked very hard behind the scenes keeping the club going and doing many of the chores required each week to organise his teams.

On behalf of the Management Committee, Players and all of the parents who have children (some bigger than others) playing or have played over years, may I say a very big thank you for everything you have done in the role of Chairman to HHFC.

Ted will still be involved with the Under 18’s team and still get involved with the club so he hasn’t dropped everything, just turning down the heat a little.

Matt Day (Manager Under 13’s) has been vice chair for a while now and has been voted by the Management Committee to take on the roll of “Acting Chairman” for the rest of the season. At our Annual General Meeting, which is held at the end of the season the roll of Chairman will be up for election and will be voted for by the members of Hanslope Hornets FC – that is everyone who is a player, parents and the committee. Candidates will be announced before the meeting and a date will be advised later in the season on a news letter and on this website.
